FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Why should I consider counseling?
Counseling can be very helpful when you are going through difficult situations in life, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling misunderstood. It can help to talk through what is going on with an unbiased, non-judgemental professional and find solutions to improve your situation.
What happens during a typical counseling session?
Your first two sessions are generally information gathering about what brings you to counseling and what you would like to work on. From there, we work together to understand and find solutions for whatever is causing issue for you in your life. Time frames vary based on what you are wanting to work on, and progress of reaching your goals is communicated on a regular basis between you and your therapist.
What is online counseling?
Online counseling can come in many forms: video conferencing, telephone, and email. We offer video conferencing and telephone online counseling, and you are able to email when needed. Please keep in mind that emails are answered Monday through Friday and answered within 24 hours. Online counseling allows you to enjoy a counseling session from the comfort of your home or office. Additionally, you can schedule your online session through our website.
What is in office counseling?
In office counseling requires you to come to the therapist's office for a session.
What are your prices for counseling?
Our price breakdown can be found in our Services area.
Why do you not take insurance?
Having worked for years in the mental health field, we have found that insurance puts great restrictions on clinicians and can impede quality of care. Typically, insurance only provides a set number of services to an individual per year, and then will not pay for other sessions, even when they are needed. Additionally, insurance requires diagnosis in order to pay, which stays in your medical file throughout your lifetime. By not accepting insurance, it allows us to provide you with quality care and further protect your confidentialty by not having to provide your medical and diagnostic information to a third party.
